About Me

I am currently 23 years old and have been raised totally within the North Dakota education system. My three other siblings have also had their entire education career within the North Dakota school system, with my younger sister and I experiencing both urban education in Fargo, and rural education in Ellendale. I obtained my high school diploma in 2021 from Ellendale high school. I have also completed 115 credits at the University of North Dakota and anticipate graduating with my bachelor's degrees in criminal justice & history in the Spring of 2026. I have five years of experience in the Army National Guard. The position I currently hold within the National Guard is Team leader or Sergeant. After my graduation I intend on completing my education degree at North Dakota State University. I also plan on getting married to my lovely Fiancé this July at our hometown of Ellendale, ND.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I interested in teaching Secondary Education?

I want to become a teacher because I loved learning, and I had some wonderful examples of teachers throughout my education career, particularly history teachers which has fueled that love of learning. Currently, as a history major, my senior Capstone is on the pedagogy of St. Augustine. This learning has allowed me to better understand classical liberal education throughout Late Antiquity in the Roman Empire and has allowed me to better understand why education is important, as well as how our teaching texts in history have been preserved.

Why Secondary Education?

I want to teach secondary education because I want to expand beyond the standards within history, going through it in more depth, and having more nuanced thought in my instruction and I expect the same with my future students in their discussions.

Where would you prefer to teach?

Easy, I want to teach where I can make the most impact on students!

Why are you going to NDSU if you're getting your other degrees from UND?

First, because I want to be with my wife, and her degree is only available at NDSU. Secondly, because of my service in the National Guard my benefits allow me to better transfer without experiencing more costs.

Why did your younger sister walk before you at graduation?

Well technically she did walk before me, that was due to alphabetical order, and she worked hard to graduate in three years here at UND, however, I completed my bachelor's degree prior to her.

Why did you make a portfolio while still in higher education?

I need to make a portfolio for my T&L 339 course my Spring Semester in my senior year!
